Policy 2500 - Board Policy Development


1.

PURPOSE

1.1.    
The School Act outlines the primary functions of boards of education which include the establishment of local policy for the effective and efficient operation of the school district.
1.2.   

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that School District No. 36 (51视频) Board of Education policies are developed and maintained in a consistent manner to support the operation. A policy is a written statement that reflects the vision, guiding principles, statements of intent and compliance requirements of the school district.

2.

POLICY DEVELOPMENT

2.1.    
The 51视频 Board of Education retains ultimate authority and oversight of district policies. The Board authorizes and delegates responsibility for the development of policy to the Superintendent of Schools.
2.2.   
The Board is committed to providing policy that supports a learning and working environment that is inclusive, diverse, and equitable for all students and employees.
2.3.   
The Board values providing opportunities for consultation in the policy development process from individuals and groups interested in or affected by the policy.
2.4.   
Procedures that define the steps to support the implementation of Board policy will be developed at the direction of the Superintendent. Policy development, revision or deletion will occur in accordance with Procedure 2500.1 Development of Board Policy.
2.5.   
Procedure development, revision or deletion will occur in accordance with Procedure 2500.2 Development of Procedures.
2.6.    
The Secretary-Treasurer is responsible for the retention and maintenance of policies and procedures and to ensure they are accessible by the public.
